Tour Description

  • Day 1 – Welcome to Bogotá and Explore the City at Your Leisure

Upon your arrival at El Dorado International Airport, a private transfer will be ready to take you smoothly to your hotel in Bogotá, where you'll spend the next three nights. After settling in, it's time to start exploring the city at your own pace with one of the most adaptable and thorough ways to sightsee: the Hop On – Hop Off tour.

This panoramic tour, allowing you to hop on and off as you please, will guide you to the most iconic spots of the Colombian capital. From the colonial streets of La Candelaria to the modern culinary districts of Zona G and Zona T, each stop offers a glimpse into Bogotá's history, culture, and its vibrant local life.

Stroll among urban art murals, marvel at the views from Monserrate Hill (admission not included), explore traditional markets like La Concordia, or savor local flavors at Parque de los Periodistas. With the freedom to choose your pace and interests, this first day serves as the perfect introduction to a city that blends modernity with tradition and a unique energy.

  • Day 2 – Guatavita and Zipaquirá: The Legend of El Dorado and the Salt Cathedral

On your second day, prepare for one of the most breathtaking excursions from Bogotá. Early in the morning, your adventure begins as you head towards the highlands of Cundinamarca, with convenient meeting points at Parque de los Periodistas and Parque de la 93. From there, the journey winds through lush mountains until you reach one of the most enigmatic sites in Colombian indigenous history: the Guatavita Lagoon.

Situated within the Chingaza Natural Park, this sacred lagoon was the scene of ancient Muisca rituals, where a chief covered in gold dust would submerge himself in its waters, offering emeralds and precious metals to the gods. This mythical ceremony inspired the legendary tale of El Dorado, which for centuries enticed European explorers.

The hike along the trails of the Andean moorland, led by a knowledgeable local guide, will not only uncover the secrets of these ancestral traditions but will also connect you with a silent and majestic landscape, where mist and wind create an almost mystical atmosphere.

Following this immersive nature experience, the day continues in Zipaquirá, a charming colonial town where you'll have free time for lunch and exploring its cobblestone streets before visiting one of the most astonishing landmarks of modern Colombian architecture: The Salt Cathedral.

The day concludes with a brief visit to Zipaquirá's historic center, providing time for a coffee, enjoying the local ambiance, or shopping for handicrafts, before heading back to Bogotá in the evening.

  • Day 3 – Coffee and Tradition: Discovering the Coffee Culture in Cundinamarca

Today, you'll leave Bogotá to explore the coffee-growing core of Cundinamarca, on a journey that blends scenic mountain landscapes, rich history, and the enticing aroma of one of Colombia's most iconic products: its coffee.

After gathering with your group at designated meeting points, you'll travel through the verdant hills surrounding the capital to reach a coffee farm. Under the guidance of experts, you'll discover the complete process behind a premium cup of coffee: from planting and harvesting to grinding and cupping. Learn traditional and sustainable techniques passed down through generations and take the opportunity to sample the coffee varieties grown here, all in a peaceful and natural setting.

The day wraps up with lunch (not included) at a traditional eatery, before returning to Bogotá in the late afternoon.

This day will be about reconnecting with the basics, savoring Colombia from its roots, and understanding why Colombian coffee is hailed as one of the finest globally.

  • Day 4 – Farewell to Bogotá and Final Glimpse

On your last day in Bogotá, a private transfer will take you from your hotel to El Dorado Airport. Depending on your flight schedule, if you have some time to spare, you might still have a chance for one final walk around the city.

A farewell befitting Bogotá: lively, diverse, and steeped in history at every turn.
