Tour Description
The tour kicks off when our guide arrives at your accommodation in Bogota. Being a full-day excursion, it is essential to start in the morning, between 07:00 and 10:00 AM. You can select the most convenient time within this window.
Departing Bogotá towards the north, you will travel in comfort and safety in our private transport. After about an hour on the road, we will reach our first stop: The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá.
With a history spanning over 60 years, this subterranean cathedral is nestled within the salt mines of Zipaquirá, built to honor the devotion of the miners who sought protection before starting their workday. Entirely carved from salt, it is recognized as Colombia's top wonder. You will have the opportunity to explore the tunnels and corridors, situated 200 meters underground, which house a rich collection of art: salt and marble sculptures immersed in an atmosphere of profound religious significance.
Following the awe-inspiring underground visit, we will head to the town to explore the main streets of Zipaquirá, delving into its historical importance and its links to ecotourism and geological sciences.
After lunch, we will explore the unique ecosystem of the Guatavita Natural Park, where you can enjoy fresh air and discover the most famous of the sacred lagoons of pre-Columbian culture: La Laguna de Guatavita.
Situated at 3100 meters above sea level, the lagoon boasts a perfectly circular shape, encircled by native encenillo forests, spanning approximately 700 meters in diameter. You'll uncover some of the secrets and mysteries of this sacred site as you connect with a natural setting shrouded in mist, silence, and untouched forests.
From Guatavita, we will return to Bogotá, concluding the adventure with a drop-off at your accommodation.
